Gina Marie | Class of 2012

Have you ever had the experience where something you’ve looked at hundreds or thousands of times suddenly looks completely different? That’s exactly what happened to me with Gina Marie’s senior portrait session. The area behind Albright Knox and around Hoyt Lake in Buffalo had become almost second nature to me. It was part of my stomping grounds during college and an often-requested destination in my time as a photographer in Western New York. It’s a place I’ve always loved to visit, but wouldn’t exactly call new and exciting….that was until it became the backdrop for Gina Marie’s portraits. With Gina Marie in the mix this location took on a brand new life!

Gina Marie has a style all her own and she owns it with no apologies. I absolutely love that about her! She also happens to be incredibly photogenic, which was a total bonus for me. I always feel confident that I can draw out my clients’ personalities to create beautiful and authentic photos, but working with Gina Marie was a dream come true. Even at such a young age she is completely comfortable in her (absolutely gorgeous) skin! In a time when most young girls (and most women, really) are so preoccupied with their “imperfections” that they don’t realize how beautiful they actually are, it was refreshing to work with someone who understands it is okay to celebrate what is unique and different about each of us. I think that, in and of itself, is definitely worth celebrating!
