What I’m Reading Right Now

“Resistance is INVISIBLE…Resistance cannot be seen, touched, heard, or smelled.  But it can be felt.  We experience it as an energy field radiating from a work-in-potential.  It’s a repelling force.  It’s negative.  Its aim is to shove us away, distract us, prevent us from doing our work.” -Steven Pressfield, THE WAR OF ART

As I was battling the Resistance again this morning, rejecting post idea after post idea, it occurred to me that maybe if people are reading this blog they may be at a similar point in their lives as I am. And maybe what I’m reading could be useful and/or interesting to them (you?) as well. So here it is, the list of books I’m currently reading. And yes, I do read this many books at one time. It’s a problem. I’m fully aware.

The 4-Hour Workweek Timothy Ferriss

I’m reading this in hopes of finding some great ideas on streamlining my business and life.

The Happiness Project Gretchen Rubin

Who doesn’t want to lead a happier life? I’ve already implemented some of her ideas!

Afoot & Afield San Diego County Jerry Schad

A great guide to hiking in and around San Diego. Hope to do them all at some point!

Anticancer David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD

Cancer sucks. I hope that after my dad kicks its ass I won’t have to deal with it personally again. Knowledge is power and a change in lifestyle can change everything.

The Complete Book of Juicing Michael T. Murray, N.D.

I am loving my new juicer and this book is full of recipes when I’m not feeling super creative about what to juice!

I Will Teach You to be Rich Ramit Sethi

In 2012 I need to create a healthier lifestyle that includes healthier finances. This books speaks in terms I can understand. AND it makes me feel like I can actually achieve my financial goals with the right strategy!

Outliers Malcolm Gladwell

I will read any and every book that Malcolm Gladwell writes and, if you have even a shred of curiosity about why people do the things they do, you should read them too!

Be the Miracle Regina Brett

My sentimental read. A beautiful book that shows how you can make a difference in your life (and the lives of others) right now. Not tomorrow, right NOW. (I should also note that I was reading it in tandem with my mom and sister when they were each here visiting. It’s a book that draws you in quickly. The pressure is on to finish so I can pass it along!)

The War of Art Steven Pressfield

This is in constant rotation on my reading list. I open it up anytime I lose my focus or feel stuck.

There it is! Definitely a little self-helpy right now, but hey, it’s that time of year;)

I’d love to hear what you’re reading…I’m always on the lookout for new/great books!!

Great list Erin. I’ve just picked up Outliers as well as The Tipping Point. Read Blink a few years ago and it was amazing. Thanks for sharing what you are reading and reason why.

Love it! I’m just starting the War of Art myself!
